Frank Brophy
Qualified as a chartered architect 35 years ago and is one of the founding directors of Brophy
Riaz and Partners [BRP]. Worked as the lead architect on significant midland buildings including
Coventry Crown Court, Cheltenham & Gloucester Offices in Leamington Spa, Ikon Gallery in
Brindley Place and Soho House Museum when Birmingham City Council commissioned this
firm.
Now retired, was involved in a wide range of commissions from bespoke individual houses to high
quality residential developments for house developers. Also, house extensions – from radical
whole-house reconfigurations to compact high space utilisation extensions.
I have, at BRP, designed several new churches and multi-use community buildings and have
overseen the restoration / extension of many existing community buildings also.
Work on Listed Buildings and work within Conservation Areas are commissions we regularly
undertake and I have extensive experience in these areas.
Away from the office, I am a member [and Past President] of the Birmingham Breakfast
Rotary Club and also a visiting award assessor at the end-of-year University of Birmingham
School Of Architecture student awards. I am also the long-standing treasurer of the
Birmingham Architectural Association – a midland branch of The Royal Institute of British
Architects.
